The Girls’ Brigade is a Christian organisation enjoyed by many girls of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Here at West, we are part of Girls’ Brigade Northern Ireland, a family of 300 companies with over 200,000 girls! We meet on Thursday evenings for fun and fellowship in the Church Hall. New members are always welcome; just have a look and see which section suits best. Explorers at West Church love to bake, make, listen to bible stories and play games, usually the noisier the better. Juniors enjoy games too, along with scripture, marching, dancing and cookery.
They also enjoy visits from outside organisations, for example Guide Dogs for the Blind and first aid. The older girls like a challenge and enjoy activities like the climbing wall. They are becoming very skilled in the kitchen but not so skilled at bench ball! Girls enjoy the scripture discussions and our social-nights, such as Movie Night and bowling. We endeavour to offer a rich and varied programme of fun activities to inspire, challenge and educate girls, through which we hope to highlight the relevance of God, both in our Girls’ Brigade programme and in day-to-day life.
